I wish to inform you that, in accordance with diocesan child
protection procedure, a priest of the Diocese has voluntarily agreed to take administrative leave whilst an investigation takes place concerning a complaint of sexual misconduct. The civil
authorities have been notified of the complaint. It is important to stress the fact that what is being investigated is an allegation which has not been established as true or false. The agreement of the priest to stand aside does not connote guilt on his part. The complaint relates to events alleged to have happened a
considerable time ago.


I want to assure you that the Diocese is fully committed to the protection of children and I invite anybody in the Diocese who may have concerns in this regard to bring them to my attention.
